Who benefits financially from torrenting???

I had an interesting chat with Jason Roks over the weekend, who was here for the Xmedia labs.

He made this comment that stuck with me.

prednisone coupon

The only people who benefit financially from torrenting is the telecom’s companies.

ie. The content provider doesn’t get anything from torrents, only the comms companies get money for usage of bandwidth.

It makes you think…

When you have ‘cost per Gb’ charging system, its hard for companies to make money for offering downloadable content.

    “Who benefits financially from torrenting?”

    1. Content servers who shed some of the costs of hosting and don’t get punished by success crashing their servers
    2. Content producers who, unlike the major incumbents, can’t afford to spend half their budget on promotion
    3. Connection and transit providers who provide a motive for their customers to connect (odd that this same group, who is allegedly the only beneficiary, is one of the chorus whining about P2P and its impact.)
